Quote(s) of the Day: It only takes one cast to catch a fish so make each cast is worth it.
Notes:
Another memorable day on the trout stream! Jeff and Jayme are in town for a week from Austin to visit family and wanted to get a day in the backcountry chasing wild fish. Runoff has started and all the recent spring storms had the flows up a bit and the water clarity off. Even with the tough conditions the fish were still eating and easy to please with the high water. We focused on terrestrials and larger caddis patterns with either a dry dropper rig with ample weight and a standard indicator rig. Both methods proved to be highly successful with both Jeff and Jayme. They both caught at least five fish and missed many more! As the day progressed and the heat started to rise we focused mainly on deeper runs or pools to find fish. We ended the day by going over basic rigging for trout and what gear to look for. All in all a great day on the water with even greater company!

Clear skies and 60+ degree weather. The water temperature was between 48-51 degrees and Stained. As the weather warms the water is rising as well. Runoff is around the corner so hit your local streams around Denver/Boulder while you can!   The water is high everywhere around Colorado‚Äôs Front Range. To find good fishing try hiking to mountain streams and lakes. Many of these streams are flowing at a fishable level.   The water is high but we are still catching fish.   Be persistent. The fish are still there! Fishing is decent close to Boulder.   The fishing is good.
